First Shots Experience - Live Fire
Service Description
Course Description The First Shots Experience is designed for individuals who have little to no experience with firearms and want a safe, structured introduction to shooting. This class focuses on the essential principles of firearm safety, handgun operation, and the fundamentals of marksmanship. Students will receive guided instruction before participating in live fire exercises on the range. The course is conducted in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment where instructors walk students through every step of safe firearm handling and shooting fundamentals. No prior experience is required. Course Length Approximately 2 Course Cost Student provides firearm and ammunition: $150 Firearm and ammunition provided: $200 Class Size Maximum 6 students Small class sizes ensure safe range supervision and individual instruction. Equipment Student Provided Option Students bring: • Handgun • 50 rounds of ammunition • Eye protection • Ear protection Provided Equipment Option The instructor will provide: • Handgun • Ammunition • Targets • Eye and ear protection Course Curriculum Module 1 – Firearm Safety Fundamentals Students will be introduced to the core safety principles that govern all firearm handling. Topics include: • The Four Universal Rules of Firearm Safety • Safe muzzle direction and awareness • Trigger finger discipline • Safe handling procedures • Range safety expectations • Personal protective equipment • What to do if a problem occurs with a firearm Students will understand that safety is the foundation of all firearms training. Module 2 – Handgun Familiarization Students will learn the basic components and operation of a semi-automatic handgun. Topics include: • Major parts of a handgun • How a semi-automatic pistol functions • Ammunition basics • Loading and unloading procedures • Magazine operation • Safe administrative handling Students will handle unloaded firearms while practicing safe manipulation under instructor supervision. Module 3 – Shooting Fundamentals Students will be introduced to the core fundamentals required for accurate shooting. Topics include: • Proper grip • Stance and body positioning • Sight alignment • Sight picture • Trigger control • Follow-through • Managing recoil Students will practice these skills prior to live fire using dry practice. Module 4 – Range Orientation Before beginning live fire exercises students will be briefed on range procedures. Topics include: • Range commands • Safe
