Service Description

Course Purpose This course is designed for shooters who have completed the First Shots Experience or have basic handgun experience and want to develop the core skills needed for defensive handgun use. Students will refine their marksmanship while learning critical defensive shooting concepts such as recoil control, target transitions, defensive accuracy, and shooting under time pressure. Course Length Approximately 3 hours Course Cost - $200 Student Prerequisites One of the following: • First Shots Experience • Basic handgun experience Skills Students Learn Students will develop: • Strong recoil management • Faster and more accurate shooting • Defensive accuracy standards • Multiple shot strings • Target transitions • Shooting cadence • Reload fundamentals Curriculum Module 1 – Safety Review Quick review of: • 4 safety rules • Range procedures • Muzzle discipline • Trigger discipline Module 2 – Shooting Fundamentals Refinement Students refine: • Grip pressure • Stance and body position • Sight tracking • Trigger reset • Follow through This is where shooters start improving speed without losing accuracy. Live Fire Drills Drill 1 – Accuracy Standard Distance: 5 yards Goal: Confirm fundamentals. Drill: 5 slow controlled shots. Students must keep rounds inside 5 inch circle. Drill 2 – Controlled Pairs Distance: 5 yards Students fire: 2 shots per string Focus: • recoil control • sight tracking Drill 3 – Cadence Drill Distance: 5 yards Students fire 5 rounds Goal: Maintain consistent rhythm while maintaining hits. Drill 4 – Target Transitions Distance: 5 yards Two targets. Students fire: 2 shots per target Goal: Move eyes first, then gun. Drill 5 – Reload Fundamentals Students learn: • Emergency reload • Magazine changes Drill 6 – Defensive Accuracy Distance: 7 yards Drill: 3–5 shot strings Goal: Fast but accurate shooting. Round Count Approx: 120–150 rounds Learning Outcomes Students will: • Shoot faster while maintaining accuracy • Understand recoil control • Perform basic reloads • Engage multiple targets safely • Build defensive shooting confidence
