So, what do I think about "Gun Free Zones"? Well I think the title kind of gives a way a small hint. Gun free zones are completely and totally useless, and disarm law abiding citizens leaving them defenseless .
I realize that many people have trouble with this, but I think most intelligent people, which at this point appears to be about 50% of the population of the US realize that criminals don't follow the law, kind of the definition of being a criminal. So the only people who are going to listen to "Gun Free Zones" are the law abiding citizens who were not going to do anything wrong in the first place. This creates environments where criminals know that no one is going to be able to shoot back at them. This draws criminals in and entices them come to the very places we don't want them; Schools, Movie theaters, Malls, Banks. Now go back and look at the locations of the last 10, 15, 25, 50 mass shootings. Guess where almost all of them took place? That's right! You guessed it "Gun Free Zones"!
"But the sign says no guns allowed! Why didn't they listen?"
A SIGN IS NOT A DETERRENT TO A CRIMINAL!
The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun whether that is a police officer or a responsibly armed citizen.
You really want to stop mass shootings or at least drastically reduce the number or people killed during one!? Eliminate gun free zones and encourage people to be responsibly armed and trained. Not only would this act as a huge deterrent, but in the event that they still did try to commit a mass shooting, they would be put down quickly without being able to walk around freely shooting multiple people before the police arrive on scene.
Why would we protect everything else important to this country with guns, but our children only get a sign that so no guns allowed? Seriously!?
I honestly don't even understand how these gun free zones even came about. I mean the second amendment is extremely clear. In fact I don't think it could have been more clear. "The right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. So any law at all limiting what you can carry or where you can carry it is 100% UNCONSTITUTIONAL! There are no if ands or buts about it. Every single gun control law currently out there is completely unconstitutional.
I am hoping that we as a country can start to open our eyes and see through the media bias. To realize that we are responsible for our own safety, and that these gun free zones are useless. We need to be allowed and encouraged to carry everywhere all the time. This will act as a deterrent to those looking to do evil, and will allow people to not be victims any more.
